Winter Quarter RSO Activities

January 3, 2022

Dear RSO Leaders,
As you have seen in the most recent communication from the University, the start of the Winter Quarter has been moved to January 10, 2022 and in-person instruction will resume January 24, 2022. As you plan your RSO activities for the quarter we wanted to issue you updated guidance and offer our continued support.

-RSO in-person activity from January 3 – January 9 has been suspended. Any reservations held in Student Centers spaces will be cancelled and no further action is needed on your part. If your RSO has space held in another campus building, please reach out to confirm your cancellation in those spaces.
-RSO activity from January 10 – January 23 is encouraged to take place virtually when possible. If you believe your RSO has a compelling reason to host in-person activity during this time, please contact your RSO advisor for approval and planning support. During this period, any in-person activity will be subject to additional guidance including the restriction of food and un-masking for any reason. RSO reservations in Student Centers spaces will be placed on a hold status and not confirmed until approvals to meet in-person are secured.
-For RSO activity planned after January 24, additional guidance, as needed, will be issued early in Winter Quarter. We encourage RSOs to consider rescheduling any large-scale events to later in the Winter Quarter or even Spring Quarter if possible. Please consult your RSO adviser or any of us to go over options.
Thanks to your continued diligence and hard work, we were able to have a successful Autumn Quarter with many RSOs resuming their traditional programming. The guidance above reflects a necessary shift to combat the recent omicron surge and we are hopeful that with your cooperation, we will be able to continue our in-person events later in the Winter Quarter. Center for Leadership and Involvement and Student Centers staff are ready to support RSOs in making your activities successful. The staff in these areas will be available starting January 3rd.
