SOAR Speakers

For the first part of SOAR, we will have several administrators speak to you about the role student organizations, as well as student leaders, play within the University of Chicago community. 

Michele Rasmussen

Dean of Students in the University

As Dean of Students in the University, Michele Rasmussen works with senior leaders across the University to develop and promote opportunities for students’ intellectual, professional, and personal growth and to provide co-curricular support as students pursue their programs of study and prepare for post-graduate life. She works closely with the provost, vice provosts, and deans of students in the College, graduate divisions, and professional schools to identify and attend to areas of mutual concern as they relate to the quality and impact of campus life at the University of Chicago.  

Shea Wolfe

Shea is responsible for the initial intake of student reports of sexual assault, sexual abuse, sexual harassment, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking.  She is also responsible for collaborating with campus partners to implement interim measures and/or accomodations when needed, providing all parties with information regarding support services (including the University's confidential resources and support services in the community), providing students with information regarding the University's investigation and disciplinary process, and providing students with information regarding the pursuit of criminal remedies.  She also works to assess, develop, and implement training programs geared toward students and those involved in the intake and resolution of student complaints, and coordinates tracking of student complaints across the University.

Jimmy Brown

Involvement

Jimmy oversees the team in the Center for Leadership and Involvement.  He is responsible for ensuring there are rich co-curricular student opportunities available for members of the community to come together to grow and learn. Jimmy also advises the Executive Committee of Student Government.
