The Coalition of Academic Teams (CAT) and Program Coordinating Council (PCC) are specialized funding committees that support Recognized Student Organizations with designated Blue Group classifications. These committees are active primarily during the Spring Quarter to facilitate the annual allocation process and distribute funding to support the unique missions, programs, and activities of their respective organizations.
The Coalition of Academic Teams (CAT) supports academic-focused organizations that participate in competitions, conferences, and educational programming. CAT-designated groups include Bridge Club, Chess Club, ChoMUN, College Bowl, Debate, Chicago Debate Society, Ethics Bowl, Mock Trial, Moot Court, and Robotics. The CAT committee is composed of representatives from USG and the UChicago student body and works to support the annual funding process for these groups.
The Program Coordinating Council (PCC) supports organizations that provide large-scale programming, media, performance, and community-building experiences for the campus community. PCC-designated groups include COUP, Doc Films, Fire Escape Films, Major Activities Board (MAB), University Theater, WHPK, Outdoor Adventure Club, and Game Music Ensemble. The PCC committee is comprised of representatives from USG and the UChicago student body and, just like CAT, works to support the annual funding process for these groups.
Together, CAT and PCC help ensure that organizations with specialized programming needs have access to appropriate funding resources while maintaining responsible stewardship of University funds. Organizations with a CAT or PCC designation should work with their committee representatives and Center for Leadership and Involvement advisor to understand annual allocation timelines, expectations, and funding processes.
